Hers is the first study to use accelerometers and photo elicitation to explore factors that shape perceptions, attitudes, values, and behaviors regarding physical activity.
Dr. Schwingel’s nominator wrote, “Many of the James Scholars who have worked on research projects with Dr. Schwingel have accepted prestigious graduate assistantships at research institutions around the country and internationally. The James Scholars who have worked in her laboratory credit her with opening their eyes with regard to the potential role of research in their future careers.”
The Edmund J. James Scholars Program, the honors program within the College of Applied Health Sciences, provides students with unique learning opportunities, enabling them to enrich their educational experience through self-initiated projects and activities and to have in-depth interactions with faculty.
