McFadden Completes Grand Slam
Paralympic medal winner Tatyana McFadden, an alumna of the Division of Disability Resources and Educational Services, has won gold in the wheelchair divisions of four major marathons this year—London, Chicago, Boston, and New York. She set a course record in Chicago, shaving nearly two minutes off the 21-year-old record set by fellow DRES and Illinois alumna Ann Cody.
The first woman to win six world titles at a single International Paralympic Committee Athletics World Championship, Tatyana already has identified her post-marathon season goal: making the U.S. cross-country skiing team for the 2014 Winter Paralympics.
