Ryan Gower Moves to Dean's Office
Dr. Ryan Gower, lecturer in the Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism (RST), has been named Interim Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs in the Dean’s Office of the College of Applied Health Sciences. He will also serve as Director of the Mannie L. Jackson Illinois Academic Enrichment and Leadership Program, or I-LEAP.
Dr. Ryan has been teaching in RST since 1999. He served as an academic advisor until 2005 when he became the internship coordinator for the department. In 2007, he was the founding co-director of RST’s Office of Alumni and Career Services. He served as director of undergraduate studies between 2008 and 2013. Dr. Ryan completed his doctoral degree in Leisure Behavior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
He has received both the college and campus excellence awards for undergraduate instruction as well as the undergraduate advising award from AHS.
